Municipal Bodies Must Prioritize Clean and Beautiful Cities – Guardian Minister Meghna Bordikar
Parbhani : In addition to providing citizens with essential civic amenities, the Parbhani Municipal Corporation and all municipal councils in the district must focus on keeping their cities clean and aesthetically pleasing, said Meghna Sakore-Bordikar, Minister of State for Public Health and Family Welfare, Water Supply and Sanitation, Energy, Women and Child Development, and Public Works (Public Enterprises), and Guardian Minister of Parbhani district. She gave these instructions to the Municipal Commissioner and Chief Officers during a review meeting.
The Guardian Minister was speaking at a meeting held at the District Collectorate, where she reviewed open spaces and proposed development works in areas under the Municipal Corporation and municipal councils. Present at the meeting were Additional District Collector Dr. Pratap Kale, Parbhani Municipal Commissioner Dhairyasheel Jadhav, District Deputy Commissioner of the Municipal Council Administration Pradeep Jagtap, and Chief Officers of all municipal councils.
Minister Bordikar stated that it is important to develop open spaces within municipal limits. She suggested creating gardens, open gyms, jogging tracks, Miyawaki gardens, and senior citizen parks for the benefit of residents. She asked all municipal bodies to submit details of such open spaces within eight days. She also emphasized solid waste management, public sanitation facilities, and the implementation of Sewage Treatment Plants (STPs). The beautification of towns should be carried out with public participation, especially tree plantation drives during the upcoming June–July period. Officers were advised to personally inspect their areas and implement innovative projects to enhance urban beauty.
During the meeting, the Municipal Commissioner and all Chief Officers presented details of open spaces and proposed developments through presentations. Harish Kulkarni from JMS Biotech gave a presentation on lake beautification initiatives. The Guardian Minister also unveiled a promotional board prepared by the Municipal Corporation to raise awareness about the PM Surya Ghar: Free Electricity Scheme.
Camps for Property Tax and Town Planning Applications Extended till May 15
To ensure quick redressal of citizen applications related to the Property Tax Department and Town Planning, the Parbhani Municipal Corporation had initially organized ward-wise camps from May 1 to May 7, 2025. For the convenience of the public, Minister Bordikar directed the Municipal Commissioner to extend these camps until May 15.
