IPL 2025 Likely to Resume from May 16 or 17

New Delhi: The Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025, which was suspended midway due to rising tensions between India and Pakistan, is expected to resume soon. According to top sources in the BCCI, if the situation remains stable, the tournament could restart on May 16 or 17.

The tournament was paused after a terrorist attack in Pahalgam, Kashmir, on May 6. In response, the Indian Army launched “Operation Sindoor” targeting terrorist hideouts in Pakistan-occupied territories. Following the military escalation, the BCCI temporarily suspended the IPL on May 9 as a safety precaution.

BCCI Vice-President Rajiv Shukla told reporters, “The situation is improving, and we will make a final decision on the new schedule by May 11.”

Reports suggest that the remaining 17 matches of the tournament could be hosted in relatively secure cities like Chennai, Bangalore, and Hyderabad to ensure the safety of players, staff, and spectators.

IPL 2025 had begun smoothly on March 22 and continued for about six weeks before the disruption. However, with a ceasefire now declared between India and Pakistan on May 10, the prospect of the tournament resuming has become much stronger.

Cricket fans, franchises, and players are eagerly awaiting the BCCI’s formal announcement so that the cricketing excitement can return to the stadiums. The upcoming matches are expected to attract high viewership as the tournament heads toward its crucial final stages.
