India Warns of Fierce Response to Any Future Provocation by Pakistan
New Delhi – In the wake of a ceasefire “understanding” between India and Pakistan, the Indian military leadership on Sunday issued a strong warning that any future misadventure by Pakistan or its terror proxies would be met with a “fierce and punitive” response.
Senior military leaders—Lt General Rajiv Ghai, Vice Admiral AN Pramod, and Air Marshal Awadhesh Kumar Bharti—jointly addressed the press, offering a comprehensive overview of India’s defense posture and operations under the recently conducted Operation Sindoor.
The officers emphasized that the Indian armed forces are committed to peace, but their mandate includes defending national sovereignty and deterring further escalations.
Although a brief truce was observed to curb hostilities and allow for a return to normalcy, Pakistani forces violated the ceasefire at 7 p.m. on Saturday, prompting Indian forces to raise their alert level.
No Border Breach, But Terror Targets Eliminated
Air Marshal Bharti clarified that no breach of India’s international borders or airspace had occurred during the operations. “Our focus remained strictly on terror hubs across the border. All our pilots are safe and back home,” he said. While refusing to disclose how many Pakistani aircraft may have been downed, he confirmed that Pakistani drones and missiles targeting Indian military positions were successfully intercepted.
“What has been happening for the last 3–4 days is nothing short of war,” said Lt Gen Ghai, revealing that over 100 terrorists had been neutralized in precision strikes, including key operatives such as Yusuf Azhar and Abdul Rauf, who were linked to the IC-814 hijacking and the Pulwama terror attack.
He referenced widely circulated funeral videos in Pakistan, attended by prominent figures, to highlight the scale and impact of India’s strikes. The operation also resulted in the deaths of relatives of terrorist Masood Azhar, he added.
Navy’s Vigilance and Maritime Dominance
Vice Admiral AN Pramod detailed the Indian Navy’s high alert posture, with extensive surveillance and drills in the Arabian Sea ensuring that India’s maritime front remained secure.
“We maintain both a quantitative and qualitative edge to deliver a massive blow if required,” he said. “Pakistan knows what to expect if it dares again.”
Fight Is Against Terror, Not Pakistan’s Military
Air Marshal Bharti reiterated that India’s target is not the Pakistani military, but terrorist networks operating across the border. “Our goal is precision strikes on threats, not body counts,” he said. “Every action is calculated to prevent escalation while eliminating dangers.”
The three service chiefs reaffirmed India’s dual objective: maintaining peace while preparing for a firm response if provoked.
“The situation remains tense,” they acknowledged, “but India continues to uphold its mandate—to defend its sovereignty and maintain regional stability.”
As diplomatic efforts continue, the international community watches closely, hoping for a peaceful resolution and long-term stability in the region.
