Successful Mega Sky Watching Program Held in Korea

A New Flight Towards Science

An extraordinary evening unfolded on Saturday, May 10, at the mini-stadium of Government Adarsh Ramanuj Higher Secondary School in Baikunthpur, Korea district. The event, a Mega Sky Watching Program, lit up the eyes of more than 500 students with curiosity and wonder toward science and astronomy. It marked a significant step in bringing scientific education closer to the general public.

What made this event truly special was the hands-on experience provided to the students. They didn’t just listen to scientific facts—they observed them firsthand. With the help of telescopes, they had the rare opportunity to view the Moon, Mars, and Jupiter, turning the evening into a thrilling cosmic journey. The LED screen presentations of celestial phenomena added an engaging and educational dimension to the program.

Jointly organized by the District Administration Korea, the Junior Red Cross Society, and the Breakthrough Science Society Korea, the program aimed to foster scientific temper, encourage logical thinking, and spark interest in subjects like astronomy among students.

The chief guest for the event was District Collector Mrs. Chandan Tripathi, joined by Superintendent of Police Mr. Ravi Kurre and District Panchayat Vice President Mrs. Vandana Rajwade. They lauded the enthusiasm and participation of the students, emphasizing how such events nurture a scientific outlook and mindset in the younger generation.

Science representatives Mr. Patit Pawan Kuila, Mr. Vijay Kumar, Ms. Pooja Sharma, and Mr. Kamal Dadsena explained complex astronomical concepts in simple language. Telescope experts Jeevan Sahu and Neeraj Kumar provided both technical insights and practical knowledge about the instruments. The presence of District Education Officer Mr. Jitendra Gupta further strengthened the program’s educational impact.

Students from both government and private schools participated, along with school heads, teachers, and parents. Starting at 5 PM, the event attracted attendees of all age groups, all eager to embark on this unique journey through the cosmos.

This initiative not only connected students with the Milky Way and the solar system but also ignited a new wave of enthusiasm and curiosity toward science. It proved to be a milestone in cultivating a scientific mindset among students.

With the core message of “Science for Humanity, Science for Society, and Science in Thinking,” the event was not only understood—it was lived. The district administration’s call for maximum participation from educational institutions bore fruit, transforming science from a complex subject into a vivid, experiential reality.

The event proved that with the right platform and opportunities, students can indeed reach for the stars in the world of science.
