Priyanka Gandhi Pays Tribute to Soldiers Martyred in Cross-Border Clashes
New Delhi – Member of Parliament Priyanka Gandhi Vadra on Monday offered heartfelt tributes to the brave soldiers who lost their lives in recent cross-border firing and counter-terror operations along the India-Pakistan border.
Expressing deep grief, she said the entire nation stands united in mourning the sacrifice of these courageous individuals who laid down their lives in the line of duty. “The martyrdom of our brave soldiers during the Indian Army’s action against terrorists and the confrontation with Pakistani forces is deeply saddening,” she wrote on social media platform X.
She named and honoured the martyrs, saying, “Subedar Pawan Kumar ji, Sepoy M. Murali Naik ji, Lance Naik Dinesh Kumar ji, BSF Sub-Inspector Mohammad Imtiaz ji, Sergeant Surendra Kumar Moga, Rifleman Sunil Kumar, and Rajouri Police Officer Raj Kumar Thapa ji – all gave their lives for the safety and sovereignty of our nation.”
Priyanka Gandhi also extended her condolences to the families of innocent civilians who lost their lives during the hostilities. “Many civilians have also been martyred. I offer my deepest condolences to their families. The entire country stands with them during this difficult time. We will always be indebted to our martyrs and their families,” she added.
The mortal remains of BSF Sub-Inspector Mohammad Imtiaz were flown to Patna from Jammu and Kashmir on Monday morning. A state-level ceremony was organised to honour him, where officials and members of the public gathered to pay their final respects.
Meanwhile, in Andhra Pradesh, hundreds of people turned out on Sunday to bid farewell to Army jawan M. Murali Naik, who was killed in the cross-border firing. His last rites were performed with full military honours at his native village in Kallithanda, Sri Sathya Sai district. State ministers V. Anitha, Savitha, Nara Lokesh, Satya Kumar, and senior Army officials attended the ceremony.
As of Monday, the situation in the border districts of Jammu and Kashmir, Punjab, and Rajasthan remained calm. Officials confirmed there were no reports of drone activity, firing, or shelling overnight. However, as a precaution, all educational institutions in the affected areas remained closed for another day.
