Government Committed to ‘Homes for All’ Scheme – CM Devendra Fadnavis Citizens Respond Enthusiastically to Janata Darbar
Nagpur : Thousands of slum dwellers in Nagpur have long dreamt of owning a home. Through the distribution of ownership documents (pattas), this dream is becoming a reality for those who were once deprived. No eligible individual will be left without rightful ownership of a home, assured Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis. He appealed to all slum dwellers who meet the government’s criteria to reach out to the municipal corporation and the Nazul department to claim their rights.

The Janata Darbar held at Hyderabad House began with the symbolic distribution of land ownership documents to 21 slum dwellers from seven different slum areas by CM Fadnavis. He then personally accepted representations from as many as 1,051 citizens. The event was attended by Legislative Council member Sandeep Joshi, MLA Pravin Datke, Divisional Commissioner Vijayalakshmi Bidari, Municipal Commissioner Dr. Abhijit Chaudhary, Police Commissioner Dr. Ravindra Singhal, NIT Chairman Sanjay Meena, Zilla Parishad CEO Vinayak Mahamuni, Acting District Collector Pradeep Kulkarni, MahaMetro GM Anil Kokate, and other officials.
Under the ‘Homes for All – 2022’ policy, 3,714 slum encroachments across 33 slum areas on Nazul land in Nagpur have been regularized. Of the approved pattas, 2,157 PTS slum dwellers have been issued challans, but many have yet to pay the non-agricultural tax, hence distribution is pending. Camps are being organized to expedite the process.
From 18 slums under the District Collector’s (Revenue Department) jurisdiction, 160 beneficiaries from Tukdoji Nagar, Kamgar Colony, and Bhandewadi have received pattas. An additional 474 pattas are ready and will be distributed after challan payments. A distribution camp is scheduled for May 20, 2025.
In the remaining 15 slums—Chinchbhuvan, Shamnagar, Gittikhadan, Pannalal Deshraj Nagar, Adivasi Nagar, Punapur, Wathoda, Bharatwada, Hudkeshwar, Kuradpura, Shobhakhet, Binaki, Koshtipura, Thakkargram, and Naragav—1,121 pattas are pending. A district-level committee meeting is scheduled for May 19, 2025, to address distribution in two of these slums.
Over 1,000 Grievances Accepted by the Chief Minister
CM Fadnavis emphasized that citizens now trust that their issues are being resolved through the Janata Darbar. “I make it a point to hold this outreach program in Nagpur once a month,” he said. “Each representation is examined seriously, and justice is delivered to every deserving citizen—this is truly satisfying.”
The event saw enthusiastic participation from across society—women, elderly citizens, youth, and persons with disabilities—all queued up to present their grievances to the Chief Minister. A large canopy and coolers were arranged to protect attendees from the heat. Citizens maintained discipline, reaffirming trust in the administration and the system. A delegation from the National Health Mission’s Contractual Officers and Employees Adjustment Committee also submitted their demands.
