Cornerstone Laying Ceremony of Ramrajya Cooperative Bank’s Head Office and Bibwewadi Branch Building by the Deputy Chief Minister
Pune : A network of banks comprising global, national, district, and cooperative institutions has been established. Considering the profound changes in the banking sector in this era of competition, cooperative banks must become more customer-centric and public-oriented, stated the Deputy Chief Minister of the state and Guardian Minister of the district, Ajit Pawar.
He was speaking at the cornerstone laying ceremony of the Ramrajya Cooperative Bank’s head office and Bibwewadi branch building at Bibwewadi. Present on the occasion were Rupali Chakankar, Chairperson of the Maharashtra State Women’s Commission; MLA Chetan Tupe; Vidyadhar Anaskar, Administrator of the State Cooperative Bank; the founder of Ramrajya Cooperative Bank, Advocate Subhash Mohite; Vijay Mohite; Chairperson Nanda Lonkar; Vice-Chairperson Shirish Mohite; and other dignitaries from the board of directors and local community.
Mr. Pawar said that many prominent leaders like Dhananjay Gadgil, Vitthalrao Gadgil, Vaikunthbhai Mehta, former Chief Minister Yashwantrao Chavan, Vasantdada Patil, Vasantrao Naik, Vilasrao Deshmukh, and Sharad Pawar have significantly contributed to the growth of the cooperative movement in the state. There is a need to update the existing cooperative laws in accordance with the changing times. The law should ensure justice to every stakeholder involved in the cooperative sector. To achieve this, new ‘cases’ related to various sectors will need to be filed under the law. The state’s Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis has decided to form a committee for necessary amendments to the cooperative law. After receiving the committee’s report, positive consideration will be given before taking decisions. Cooperative banks have worked to give a human face to their dealings. The state government aims to encourage cooperative banks to earn more profit than the expected targets.
Ramrajya Cooperative Bank has been working for the last 25 years to empower ordinary citizens and build their creditworthiness. The board of directors and member borrowers have made a significant contribution to this effort. Protecting the interests of the members is the responsibility of all of us. Along with increasing deposits, the bank should strive to get reliable borrowers. Efforts should be made to provide transparent and easy services to citizens. Maintaining trustworthiness in banking business is essential. Young people should be given opportunities and trained in the banking sector. Close attention should be paid to overdue loans. With cybercrime increasing daily, cooperative banks should affiliate themselves with the State Cooperative Bank, Mr. Pawar added.
Founder Mr. Vijay Mohite, in his introductory remarks, said Ramrajya Cooperative Bank has a total of eight branches in the city and rural areas, providing banking services transparently to citizens.
Mrs. Lonkar expressed a welcome address, while Advocate Mohite gave information about the bank’s progress.
