Top Lashkar Terrorist Abu Saifulla Shot Dead in Pakistan

Abu Saifulla, a senior Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) terrorist and one of India’s most wanted fugitives, was shot dead in Pakistan’s Sindh province on May 18. Unknown gunmen opened fire on him in Matli town of Badin district, killing him instantly near a road crossing shortly after he stepped out of his residence. The attack appears to have been carefully planned.

Also known as Razaullah Nizamani, Abu Saifulla played a key role in planning and executing major terrorist attacks in India. He was the alleged mastermind behind the 2001 attack on a CRPF camp in Rampur, the 2005 assault on the Indian Institute of Science (IISc) in Bengaluru, and the 2006 strike on the RSS headquarters in Nagpur.

Indian intelligence agencies had long accused him of enjoying protection in Pakistan while continuing to fund and coordinate LeT operations. At one point, Saifulla was reportedly living in Nepal under the alias “Vinode Kumar,” where he married a local woman and operated covertly. He later returned to Pakistan and continued working with LeT and its front, Jamaat-ud-Dawa, both of which are banned by the UN.

Saifulla’s killing has raised questions about Pakistan’s internal security, particularly in areas where the state is believed to have firm control. His presence in Pakistan also supports India’s long-standing claim that the country serves as a safe haven for terrorists.

According to sources, he was actively involved in terror financing and recruitment, and his death is being viewed as a significant blow to Lashkar-e-Taiba’s network. Indian agencies have called it a major development in the ongoing fight against Pakistan-backed terrorism.

Saifulla was reportedly under official protection in Pakistan, further underscoring concerns about state complicity. His assassination may indicate growing rifts within terror networks or increasing international pressure on Pakistan to act against extremists operating within its borders.
