PM Divyasha Centre: A New Chapter in Empowering Divyangjans – Lok Sabha Speaker

Lok Sabha Speaker Inaugurates Divyasha Centre at Kota’s MBS Hospital
Announcement of ₹15 Crore Divyangjan Park in Kota

Jaipur – Lok Sabha Speaker Shri Om Birla inaugurated the Prime Minister’s Divyasha Centre on Monday at the MBS Hospital premises in Kota. He stated that this centre marks a new chapter in enhancing the inner strength, confidence, and self-reliance of persons with disabilities (Divyangjans). It is not just a distribution centre for assistive devices but a medium to help Divyangjans lead a dignified life with self-respect.

Shri Birla described the initiative by Prime Minister Narendra Modi as a powerful example of inclusive development, ensuring that the most vulnerable sections of society get access to their rights and growth opportunities. Across the country, Divyangjans are becoming self-reliant with determination—he personally witnessed many selling items like kulfi and clothes on motorcycles, setting an inspiring example. This transformation, he noted, has changed public perception as well.

“Divyang” – A Change in Mindset, Not Just a Word

The Lok Sabha Speaker emphasized that the centre reflects PM Modi’s compassionate vision, enabling every citizen—especially Divyangjans and senior citizens—to live with dignity and pride. The shift from the word ‘viklang’ to ‘divyang’ is not merely semantic but a bold step towards changing societal attitudes. “I thank PM Modi for this noble and humane initiative of the Divyasha Centre,” he said.

Appreciation for State Government’s Efforts

Shri Birla praised the Rajasthan government’s efforts in providing treatment to children suffering from muscular dystrophy. He particularly lauded Chief Minister Bhajanlal Sharma’s decision to offer automated motorcycles under the CM’s Electric Wheelchair Scheme to individuals affected by the condition, calling it a move that will significantly uplift the lives of Divyangjans.

Life-Changing Assistive Devices

At the Prime Minister Divyasha Centre, Divyangjans will receive dental implants, spectacles, prosthetics, spinal and neck braces, mobility sticks, and other assistive tools. A specially designed smart stick that signals a person’s presence in the dark will also be provided. These devices aim to make the lives of Divyangjans more accessible and active.

₹15 Crore Divyangjan Park in Kota

Shri Birla announced the construction of a modern Divyangjan Park in Kota, to be developed at a cost of ₹15 crore. The park will feature a yoga centre, fitness area, library, and restaurant—providing a space where Divyangjans can spend time independently. He stated that the park will not only support physical needs but also boost morale and self-confidence.

Rajasthan’s Third and Most Advanced Centre

Mr. Harish Kumar, Marketing Manager at ALIMCO, Kanpur, informed that this is the third Prime Minister Divyasha Centre in Rajasthan. It will offer 16 types of devices for senior citizens and another 16 for Divyangjans. Eligible individuals can walk into the centre, present necessary documents, and receive assistance devices directly.

During the event, Shri Birla distributed assistive devices to 127 senior citizens and 99 Divyangjans. The devices included motorized tricycles, wheelchairs, smart sticks, hearing aids, neck braces, artificial limbs, walkers, canes, and more.

The event was attended by Joint Director of the Department of Social Justice and Empowerment Mrs. Savita Krishnia, ALIMCO RMC Jaipur Deputy Manager and In-charge Mr. Harish Kakkar, Medical College Principal Dr. Sangeeta Saxena, MBS Hospital Superintendent Dr. Dharamraj Meena, and other officials, doctors, and dignitaries.
