Over ₹5,500 crore has been spent on land acquisition, including stamp duty and registration fees

Lucknow : The Yogi government is not merely building expressways as transportation routes—it is strategically transforming them into industrial corridors that serve as strong foundations for economic and industrial development. As part of this vision, the government has so far acquired approximately 3,827 hectares of land—around 70% of the approved land—for industrial corridors along the Ganga, Bundelkhand, Agra-Lucknow, Purvanchal, and Gorakhpur Link Expressways. Over ₹5,500 crore has been invested in land acquisition, including stamp duty and registration charges.

This ambitious initiative is a significant step toward establishing Uttar Pradesh as an ‘Udyam State’. It aims to promote warehousing, logistics, electronics, food processing, pharmaceuticals, and IT industries. According to the Uttar Pradesh Expressways Industrial Development Authority (UPEIDA), these corridors will play a vital role in helping the state achieve its goal of becoming a one-trillion-dollar economy.

Nearly 20,000 landowners have been compensated for land acquisition and purchase, making the initiative a driver of industrial progress and a source of direct economic benefit for local communities. By strengthening infrastructure and generating employment for lakhs of people, the expressway-based industrial corridor scheme is a powerful effort toward inclusive economic empowerment and long-term development.

Ganga Expressway
Over 1,043 hectares of land acquired—998 hectares purchased and 45 hectares reclaimed—covering more than 70% of the approved area. A total of ₹1,882 crore in compensation has been disbursed to 5,415 landowners. Industrial corridors are being developed at 11 locations, benefiting 12 districts.

Bundelkhand Expressway
More than 1,528 hectares were acquired, 1,475 hectares were purchased, and 53 hectares were reclaimed, representing 80% of the approved land. ₹1,655 crore has been spent, benefitting 3,783 landowners. Corridors in districts like Banda and Jalaun will significantly boost the regional economy.

Purvanchal Expressway
Around 873 hectares were acquired, which is approximately 60% of the approved land. ₹1,365 crore has been spent, with compensation provided to 6,632 landowners. Key industrial hubs will emerge in Lucknow, Barabanki, Sultanpur, Azamgarh, and Ghazipur.

Gorakhpur Link Expressway
Over 168 hectares acquired—more than 80% of the approved land. ₹305 crore has been spent, benefitting 1,768 landowners. Two major industrial hubs will be developed along this corridor, positively impacting Gorakhpur and Azamgarh.

Agra-Lucknow Expressway
More than 212 hectares of land have been acquired, with an investment of over ₹300 crore. Compensation has been provided to around 1,400 landowners. Industrial townships will be established in Firozabad, Agra, Etawah, and Kannauj.

This transformative project is expected to generate lakhs of jobs over the next decade, positioning Uttar Pradesh as a national leader in infrastructure-driven industrial growth.
