Kharif Season Awareness: Make Neem Extract at Home – An Effective and Eco-Friendly Insecticide

The excessive use of chemical pesticides has led to serious issues such as crop damage, deterioration of soil quality, negative impacts on human health, and environmental crises. A natural, effective, and economical alternative to this problem is Neem Extract, which can be prepared at home without any additional expense.

What is Neem Extract?

Neem extract, made from the ripe fruits of the neem tree, is highly effective against pests like aphids, jassids, American bollworm, leaf borers, stem borers, and fruit flies. A 5% spray solution is sufficient for effective pest control.

Simple Method to Prepare Neem Extract at Home:

1. Collecting Neem Seeds:
Gather ripe neem fruits fallen on field borders or roadside. Remove the pulp and skin, wash the seeds thoroughly, and dry them in shade. Store in a dry place.

2. Making Neem Powder:
Crush or pulverize the dried seeds to make 5 kg of powder. Soak it in 9 liters of water. Separately, soak 200 grams of soap flakes in 1 liter of water.

3. Preparing the Extract:
The next day, strain the neem solution through cloth and mix in the soap solution. Combine this mixture with 90 liters of water to prepare 100 liters of spray-ready insecticide.
