9 Killed in Colombia Bus Accident Near Calarca

Bogota : At least nine people lost their lives and seven others were injured on Saturday in a tragic bus accident near the city of Calarca in Colombia’s Quindio Department. The incident occurred on the Helicoidal Bridge along the La Linea highway, local police reported.

The bus was carrying 26 passengers, including engineering students from Alexander von Humboldt University and staff from the National Roads Institute. According to police commander Luis Fernando Atuesta, the bus is believed to have suffered a mechanical failure, causing the driver to lose control. The vehicle then collided with the guardrails, leading to the deadly crash.

Emergency response teams arrived at the scene quickly and transported the injured to nearby hospitals for treatment. Authorities are currently investigating the exact cause of the mechanical failure and have assured continued support to the victims and their families during this difficult time.
