Indian Delegation in Singapore Highlights Zero Tolerance for Terrorism
Singapore: A high-level, all-party Indian parliamentary delegation led by JD(U) MP Sanjay Kumar Jha met with Singapore’s Senior Minister of State for Foreign Affairs and Minister of State for Home Affairs, Sim Ann, to convey India’s firm stance against terrorism. The meeting was part of India’s ongoing diplomatic outreach following the Pahalgam terror attack and Operation Sindoor.
The Indian High Commission in Singapore shared updates on the visit, stating, “The all-party delegation met Her Excellency Ms Sim Ann and conveyed India’s position on recent developments following the Pahalgam terror attack, Operation Sindoor, and India’s new policy direction of zero tolerance towards terrorism.”
In another post, the High Commission said, “The High Commissioner briefed the delegation, led by Hon’ble MP Shri Sanjay Kumar Jha, ahead of key meetings in Singapore aimed at sharing India’s strong and united stand against terrorism.”
On Tuesday, Jha also met with India’s High Commissioner to Singapore, Ambassador Shilpak Ambule. According to the High Commission, the visiting delegation will engage with various stakeholders in Singapore, including government ministers, parliamentarians, academics, business leaders, media representatives, think tanks, and members of the Indian diaspora. The main objective of these engagements is to reinforce India’s collective resolve to combat terrorism in all its forms.
The visit to Singapore followed a similar diplomatic mission to Seoul, South Korea. There, Jha had strongly criticized Pakistan’s long-standing role in sponsoring cross-border terrorism. He highlighted the tragic April 22 terror attack in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir, where 26 innocent tourists were brutally killed.
Jha emphasized that the attackers involved in the Pahalgam incident were trained, funded, and sheltered by Pakistan. “This was not an isolated incident. It was part of a pattern of state-supported terrorism,” he said. His remarks underscore India’s growing efforts to garner international support and awareness regarding Pakistan’s involvement in cross-border terror activities.
The delegation to Singapore includes representatives from multiple Indian political parties, showcasing a rare display of unity on national security matters. Members include Aparajita Sarangi (BJP), Abhishek Banerjee (TMC), Brij Lal (BJP), John Brittas (CPI-M), Pranab Barua (BJP), Hemang Joshi (BJP), and senior Congress leaders Salman Khurshid and Mohan Kumar.
This visit is part of a broader effort by the Modi government to launch multilateral diplomatic engagements post-Operation Sindoor. As part of this outreach, seven high-level delegations are being sent to various countries to present concrete evidence of Pakistan’s ties to terrorism and build international consensus.
Operation Sindoor, launched on May 7, was a major counter-terrorism operation by Indian armed forces in response to the Pahalgam attack. The operation targeted terror infrastructure in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Jammu and Kashmir, leading to the elimination of over 100 terrorists. The militants belonged to groups such as Jaish-e-Mohammed, Lashkar-e-Taiba, and Hizbul Mujahideen—organizations designated as terrorist entities by many international bodies.
Through these diplomatic efforts, India aims to ensure that the global community understands its zero-tolerance approach to terrorism and supports its right to defend its citizens and sovereignty.
