Under Yogi govt, profitability of cooperative banks surged fivefold, empowering farmers and small-scale entrepreneurs
Lucknow : Under the dynamic leadership of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, Uttar Pradesh has witnessed unprecedented progress in the cooperative sector. The positive outcomes of the far-reaching reforms and targeted schemes introduced to strengthen cooperative institutions are now clearly evident. From loan disbursements to net profits, the sector has seen a three- to fivefold increase—marking a true renaissance of cooperatives in the state.
In 2017, the Uttar Pradesh Cooperative Bank disbursed loans worth ₹9,190 crore. By 2025, this figure has surged to ₹23,061 crore under the Yogi government—a testament to its effectiveness in economically empowering farmers and small entrepreneurs across the state.
The bank’s net profit, which stood at ₹32.82 crore in 2017, has now crossed ₹100 crore—registering a threefold increase. This remarkable growth highlights not only increased lending activity but also the impact of improved management practices and enhanced transparency.
District cooperative banks have also demonstrated significant growth. Their total business now stands at ₹41,234 crore, reflecting their growing role in the rural economy. The combined net profit of 50 district cooperative banks has jumped from ₹36 crore in 2017 to ₹162 crore today—a fivefold increase—showcasing the effectiveness of the government’s financial strategy and its commitment to the cooperative sector.
To support farmers, crop loan disbursements have doubled, rising to ₹11,516 crore. This has ensured timely financial support for agricultural activities, contributing to increased farm productivity.
Additionally, 13 new branches of cooperative banks have been established, and PACS have been upgraded into multi-service centers. These centers now offer a wide range of services—such as banking, seeds, fertilizers, and insurance—under one roof, enhancing convenience for rural communities.
Through these visionary initiatives, the Yogi government has set the cooperative sector on a firm path toward self-reliance and inclusive rural development.
