Revanth Reddy Slams Modi Government Over Ceasefire with Pakistan

Hyderabad : Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy launched a scathing attack on the Narendra Modi-led central government, accusing it of halting military action against Pakistan “at the behest of US President Donald Trump.” Speaking at the Jai Hind Yatra held in Nizampet, Hyderabad, the Chief Minister questioned the rationale behind calling off the war without seeking consensus from all political parties.

Revanth Reddy expressed concern over the abrupt ceasefire that came just four days after India launched military strikes on Pakistan. He criticized the government for failing to convene an all-party meeting before making such a crucial decision. “Why was the ceasefire announced in such haste? Why wasn’t the opinion of all political parties taken into account?” he asked.

Recalling events from the lead-up to the conflict, Reddy said that both Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge and Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi had fully supported the Centre’s decision to go to war, with the aim of reclaiming Pakistan-Occupied Kashmir (POK). He emphasized that bold leadership and clear war strategies are essential in such situations.

“Only a leader with courage and determination can prepare a war strategy. Former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi displayed such strength when she confronted China and issued a stern warning,” he said.

The Chief Minister also criticized PM Modi for his alleged inaction following the Galwan clash in 2020, where Indian Army Colonel Santosh Babu was killed in a confrontation with Chinese troops. “There was no strong response from the Prime Minister even after such a grave incident,” he remarked.

Drawing comparisons to Indira Gandhi’s leadership during the 1971 war, Reddy praised her for standing up to U.S. pressure and decisively defeating Pakistan, leading to the creation of Bangladesh. He claimed that she had set an example by dividing the enemy nation and delivering a strong message to the world.

Reddy reaffirmed his own commitment to national integrity, declaring that he would fully support the division of Pakistan if necessary to safeguard India. Referring to a past rally held at Necklace Road to condemn the Pahalgam terrorist attack, he recalled how people had raised slogans demanding the complete elimination of terrorists. “We pledged full support to the Prime Minister in fighting Pakistan-sponsored terrorism and even called for the country to be erased from the world map,” he added.

Taking aim at the BJP, Revanth questioned the party’s decision to organise the Tiranga Rally after the ceasefire. “The war isn’t your personal matter—it concerns the security of the entire nation. The BJP has demoralised our soldiers, which is why we are holding the Jai Hind Yatra to rebuild their self-confidence,” he said.

He concluded by stating that the Congress and the Gandhi family have a long legacy of sacrifice for the nation. Labeling PM Modi a “spent force,” he urged party workers to work relentlessly to bring Rahul Gandhi to power. “India needs a strong leader like Rahul Gandhi during these challenging times,” Reddy said.

Congress in-charge of Telangana Meenakshi Natrajan, State Congress President Mahesh Kumar Goud, and several ministers and party workers also participated in the rally.
