Bundelkhand Will Surpass Punjab and Haryana in Agricultural Prosperity: CM Dr. Yadav

Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav declared that Bundelkhand will outpace Punjab and Haryana in agricultural prosperity, thanks to the Ken-Betwa River Linking Project, which is being implemented with a historic investment of ₹1 lakh crore under the guidance of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi. Virtually addressing a public event in Gaurihar, Chhatarpur district, Dr. Yadav inaugurated and laid the foundation for 92 development works worth over ₹184 crore. He stated that the Ken-Betwa project will double agricultural productivity, leading to economic prosperity for farmers.

Dr. Yadav highlighted that the government has enforced prohibition in 19 religious cities as part of its social reform agenda. He said the Nal-Jal Yojana, initiated by Prime Minister Modi, is ensuring clean tap water in every household, freeing mothers and sisters from the burden of fetching water. The Chief Minister also assured that irrigation facilities are being strengthened across the state through multiple ongoing projects to ensure better yields and water supply to crops.

Chief Minister Dr. Yadav announced that the Madhya Pradesh government has implemented prohibition in 19 religious cities as part of its commitment to preserving spiritual and cultural sanctity. Highlighting the government’s humanitarian focus, he said that under the Raah Veer Yojana, individuals who help transport road accident victims to hospitals will be rewarded with ₹25,000, ensuring that timely medical attention can save lives. Dr. Yadav also mentioned the launch of air ambulance services, providing free and high-quality treatment to Ayushman card holders within the state and across India in critical emergencies. Focusing on women’s welfare, the Chief Minister announced that widows who lose their spouses at a young age will now be eligible for ₹2 lakh assistance under the Kalyani Vivah Yojana to support their remarriage and social rehabilitation. He further emphasised the achievements under the Har Ghar Jal initiative, stating that Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi’s Nal Jal Yojana has made clean tap water accessible to millions of households in Madhya Pradesh, ensuring that “our mothers and sisters no longer have to step out to fetch drinking water.”

Dr. Yadav concluded by affirming the government’s commitment to agriculture, announcing that irrigation facilities are being expanded through multiple new projects to ensure that farmers have sufficient water to cultivate and enhance crop productivity. He added that renovation and upkeep of Chhatarpur’s Jatashankar temple will be undertaken, and invited all women of the state to attend Prime Minister Modi’s visit to Bhopal on 31 May, commemorating the 300th birth anniversary of Lokmata Devi Ahilyabai Holkar. On this occasion, PM Modi will also inaugurate metro train services, two airports, and several other development projects in Madhya Pradesh.

Khajuraho MP Dr. V.D. Sharma praised the leadership of PM Modi and CM Yadav, stating that their schemes are benefiting all sections of society. He emphasized the revival of water bodies under the Jal Ganga Samvardhan Abhiyan, which has increased water retention and preserved vital resources.

The event was attended by Minister-in-Charge of Chhatarpur Shri Edal Singh Kasana, Minister of State for Forests and Environment Shri Dilip Ahirwar, MP Shri V.D. Sharma, MLAs Shri Arvind Pateria, Shri Rajesh Shukla, Smt. Lalita Yadav, Zila Panchayat President Smt. Vidya Agnihotri, and other public representatives and officials.
