Bhopal : Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav has said that in Indian culture, the importance of one tree is considered equal to that of ten sons. Along with vegetation, considering rivers, mountains, etc. as living beings symbolizes our sensitive cultural tradition. Under the ‘Ek Ped Maa ke Naam’ campaign being run across the country on the call of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, the state government has also pledged to plant trees extensively with a target to plant not less than 5 crores 50 lakh saplings in the state. As many as 51 lakh saplings will be planted in Indore and 12 lakh saplings each in Bhopal and Jabalpur districts. Chief Minister Dr. Yadav was addressing the ‘Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam-Major Tree Plantation’ campaign organized at the Jamboree Ground. Chief Minister Dr. Yadav planted an Amla sapling in memory of his mother Smt. Leela Bai Yadav and inaugurated the campaign by lighting a lamp. Earlier, he also observed the pictures made by the students on awareness about environmental protection.

Chief Minister Dr. Yadav, while remembering Dr. Shyama Prasad Mukherjee on his birth anniversary, said that Dr. Mukherjee played an important role in alerting the country about the Kashmir conflict and against the British conspiracy to disintegrate the country. Appreciating the active participation of students, voluntary organizations, NCC, and NSS in the tree plantation campaign, Chief Minister Dr. Yadav said that people are enthusiastic about tree plantation in the entire state and they are coming forward to plant trees and take part in the campaign.
Bhopal Municipal Corporation will plant one lakh 20 thousand saplings
Mayor Smt. Malti Rai said that Bhopal Municipal Corporation has resolved to plant one lakh 20 thousand saplings under the massive tree plantation campaign. In today’s campaign, 26001 saplings are being planted with public participation. He said that under the Jal Ganga Samvardhan Abhiyan started on the initiative of Chief Minister Dr. Yadav for the conservation of water sources, 128 dumpers of silt were removed from 12 reservoirs of Bhopal city, and work of conservation of 54 step wells and 42 wells was done. MP Shri V.D. Sharma said that as per the call of Prime Minister Shri Modi, the people of the state should plant a tree in the name of their mothers and also take care of it.
Among those who were present in the program were Sports and Youth Welfare Minister Shri Vishwas Sarang, Minister of State for Backward Classes and Minority Welfare (Independent Charge) Smt. Krishna Gaur, Minister of State for Urban Development and Housing Smt. Pratima Bagri, Minister of State for Panchayat and Rural Development Smt. Radha Singh, MP Shri Alok Sharma, MLA and former Protem Speaker Shri Rameshwar Sharma, MLA Shri Bhagwan Das Sabnani, public representatives, and a large number of citizens.
