Artificial Intelligence Has Expanded the Horizons of Journalism – Principal Secretary and DG Brijesh Singh
Workshop for Konkan Region Journalists Focuses on AI, Social Media, and Responsible Journalism
Ratnagiri – Principal Secretary and Director General of the Directorate General of Information and Public Relations (DGIPR), Brijesh Singh, stated that artificial intelligence (AI) has significantly expanded the horizons of journalism.
He was speaking at a workshop for journalists from the Konkan region on the topic “Artificial Intelligence, Social Media, and Responsible Journalism.”
Singh remarked that mobile technology has brought about a transformative change, and the use of AI in journalism is proving highly beneficial by making tasks more efficient. He highlighted that it is now possible to translate live speeches into nine languages simultaneously using AI. While discussing the advantages and disadvantages of AI and its excessive use in social media, he noted, “You may possess the truth, but AI does not inherently know what the truth is.”
Sharing a personal note, Singh added, “I come from a family of journalists. My father was an accredited journalist. I am grateful to the government for giving me the opportunity to serve in this very department.”
During the session, Singh also responded candidly to various questions posed by journalists attending the workshop.
