Successful “Run for Environment” Held Amid Drizzling Rain; State Forest Minister (Independent Charge) Mr. Sanjay Sharma Flagged It Off
On June 4 in Jaipur, in collaboration with the State Pollution Control Board (RSPCB) and the Department of Environment & Climate Change, a “Run for Environment” event was successfully organized in light drizzle as part of the public awareness initiatives on the occasion of World Environment Day (June 5). The rally began at Albert Hall, proceeded via Gandhi Circle, and concluded back at Albert Hall.
The rally was flagged off by the State Minister for Forests, Environment & Climate Change (Independent Charge), Mr. Sanjay Sharma. During the flag‐off, Mr. Sharma administered an environmental protection pledge to those present. He also led them in pledging to keep water, air, and soil free from pollution and to create a clean and healthy environment for future generations. Additionally, he planted a sapling at the State Zoo and urged everyone to plant as many trees as possible.
Approximately 1,200 participants took part in the program, including members of the Jaipur Runners Club, Scouts and Guides, NCC cadets, police officers, Home Guard personnel, officials and staff from the Environment Department and Forest Department, and various stakeholders. Throughout the rally, police, ambulance, and fire brigade teams remained on standby. Along the route, cold beverages were provided at multiple points in clay cups (“kulhads”) instead of plastic glasses.
Present at the event were Principal Chief Conservator of Forests (Head of Forest Force) Mr. Arijit Banerjee; Principal Chief Conservator of Forests (Administration) & Principal Chief Conservator of Forests, Coordination Mr. Pawan Kumar Upadhyay; Principal Chief Conservator of Forests (Wildlife) & Chief Wildlife Warden Ms. Shikha Mehra; Member Secretary of the Rajasthan State Pollution Control Board Mr. Sharda Pratap Singh; along with all other senior officers and staff of the Pollution Control Board.
