Tourism Review Meeting Chaired by Deputy Chief Minister Diya Kumari

Under the chairmanship of Deputy Chief Minister and Tourism Minister Diya Kumari, a key review meeting of the Tourism Department was held on Wednesday at the Tourism Bhawan in Jaipur. The discussion focused on the comprehensive development of Rajasthan’s tourism, heritage conservation, and infrastructure.

Tourism Secretary Ravi Jain and senior officials of the department participated in the meeting. The Deputy CM instructed the officials that Rajasthan’s tourist destinations, monuments, museums, and religious sites should be developed and presented so impressively that they astonish visitors from around the world. She emphasized that, in line with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision, the state should move forward with building modern museums and grand statues.

War Museum in Jhunjhunu
The meeting considered establishing a “War Museum” in Jhunjhunu. This museum will showcase the bravery of Rajasthan’s soldiers, their martial skills, and artifacts related to historical battles. Officials were directed to have the Detailed Project Report (DPR) prepared by a specialized agency.

Smart Museum for Jaipur’s Albert Hall
It was decided that the historic Albert Hall Museum in Jaipur will be transformed into a “Smart Museum.” Planned upgrades include a digital light-and-sound show, interactive displays, virtual reality (VR), and augmented reality (AR) features. These enhancements aim to elevate the museum’s global standing.

Digital, High-Tech Museums Across Rajasthan
The proposal to digitize the state’s museums and forts received approval. With a budget of ₹25 crore, the first phase—targeted for completion within six months—will implement AR-based upgrades, RFID tagging, and virtual tour systems.

₹100 Crore Development Plan for Pushkar
To boost religious tourism, a ₹100 crore development plan for Pushkar was presented. Officials of the Ajmer Development Authority were instructed to prepare the DPR promptly, focusing on essential infrastructure while preserving Pushkar’s original character. The plan includes constructing a corridor from Brahma Temple to Varaha Chowk, restoring ghats, introducing a laser show in the theme park, implementing a digital guiding system, establishing the Savitri Vatika, and improving the Pushkar fairgrounds.

Maharana Pratap Tourist Circuit & Tribal Tourism
Discussion also covered grand development of the Maharana Pratap Tourist Circuit and innovations in war museums and other heritage sites. For the Tribal Tourist Circuit, a DPR was commissioned to develop “Shilpgram” and tribal museums in Dungarpur, Banswara, Pratapgarh, and Udaipur. These projects aim to showcase tribal lifestyles and create employment opportunities for indigenous youth.

Emphasis on Water & Heritage Conservation
Special attention was given to restoring Rajasthan’s traditional baoris (stepwells). The Deputy CM directed that expert consultants be engaged to preserve these structures, thereby honoring centuries-old water-conservation traditions and safeguarding local culture. She also reviewed the renovation of the Water Palace’s pal (pavilion) and railings, progress on the Amer fort’s light-and-sound show, and conservation efforts for Shekhawati’s havelis. Updates were provided on the tender processes for development work around Jamwai Mata Temple, Khatu Shyam Ji, and Malaserhi Dungari.

Next Steps
The Tourism Minister instructed that the framework for the new Adventure Tourism Policy be finalized this June. She also urged officials to explore opportunities for roadshows, aiming to showcase Rajasthan tourism on national and international platforms.
