Our Process is Transparent and Accountable – Clarifies Election Commission of India

Mumbai : The Election Commission of India (ECI) has clarified that it had sent a detailed response to the Congress party on December 24, 2024, addressing all the concerns and questions raised by them. However, the Commission expressed regret that despite this official correspondence, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi has continued to publicly question and level allegations against the Commission through the media.

In its statement, the ECI asserted, “The Election Commission is an independent and constitutional body. Whenever any political party or its leader contacts the Commission directly through a formal letter, we have always responded—and continue to do so.”

The Commission found it surprising and unfortunate that Mr. Rahul Gandhi has chosen to repeatedly raise concerns through media channels instead of directly engaging with the Commission. It urged him and other leaders to reach out via official communication rather than making public accusations.

The Commission also emphasized, “Our process for responding to officially raised queries is transparent and concrete.”

It concluded by stating that engaging in direct communication with the Election Commission, rather than through media platforms, would strengthen the democratic process and lead to more effective dialogue.
