MoS Sanjay Sharma Inspects Nidani and Proposed Dam Sites—Calls for Public Participation in Water Conservation under Vande Ganga Campaign
Jaipur : Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Environment and Forests, Shri Sanjay Sharma, conducted an inspection on Tuesday of the Nidani Dam in Alwar district, along with newly proposed dam sites including the areas around Pratapbandh, Jarkhawala Nala, and Bhurasiddh. During the visit, he issued necessary instructions to the concerned officials.
During the inspection, the Minister directed forest and municipal corporation officials to expedite the construction process in all three proposed dam sites by completing the required formalities. The Forest Department is set to issue the No Objection Certificate (NOC) shortly. He instructed that technical proposals be prepared and tenders be issued to initiate the construction. He emphasized that the construction of these three dams would significantly raise the groundwater level in more than a dozen municipal wards of Alwar. This would also contribute to environmental conservation and ensure the availability of drinking water for animals and birds.
Instructions Issued for De-silting of Nidani and Pratapbandh Dams:
Shri Sharma directed the Executive Engineer of the Water Resources Department to prepare proposals for the de-silting of Pratapbandh and obtain departmental approval for timely execution. After inspecting Nidani Dam, he instructed the Deputy Forest Conservator to strengthen the dam embankment. He also ordered de-silting of the dam, removal of flow obstructions, and general cleaning of the area.
Praises Innovation in Grass Nursery Development:
The Minister visited the grass nursery being developed near Aadapada Hanuman Temple and appreciated the innovation undertaken by the Forest Department. On this occasion, Sariska Deputy Conservator of Forests Shri Abhimanyu Saharan informed that, under the Minister’s guidance, the grass nursery is being developed as an innovation. The grass cultivated here will be planted in forest areas, and upon successful implementation, similar nurseries will be established elsewhere.
Calls for Mass Participation in ‘Vande Ganga’ Water Conservation Campaign:
