Chhattisgarh Athletes Shine at National and International Levels
Bijapur Players Honoured for Achievements in Junior National and Asian Softball Championships
Raipur : Athletes from the remote forest region of Bijapur district in Chhattisgarh have brought pride to the state by showcasing outstanding performances at both national and international sporting events. The Bijapur girls’ team earned a bronze medal at the Junior National Softball Championship held in Chandigarh, marking a significant achievement for the state.
A total of six players from Bijapur were selected to represent Chhattisgarh in the national team. These talented athletes included Anuradha Kovasi, Asmita Marpalli, Jyoti Oyam, Rinki Hemla, Lakshmi Baghel, and Pooja Korsa. All six played a crucial role in the team’s medal-winning performance, demonstrating skill, teamwork, and determination on the field.
In recognition of their success, the District Collector of Bijapur honored the players by personally presenting them with medals. Their achievements were further acknowledged alongside two male athletes, Rakesh Punem and Rakesh Kadti, who represented India in the Asian Softball Championship held in Bangkok.
During the felicitation ceremony, Collector Mr. Sambit Mishra interacted with the athletes, inquiring about the techniques of the game, the performance of teams from various countries, and India’s ranking at the championship. He encouraged the players, praised their hard work, and wished them a bright future, urging them to continue striving for excellence in sports.
The event was also attended by the District Sports Officer and other concerned officials, who commended the athletes’ dedication and achievements.
