Chief Electoral Officer Issues Key Directives to District Election Officers : No More Than 1200 Voters Per Polling Booth; Training for 52,500 BLOs in July
Jaipur : Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) Shri Naveen Mahajan announced that the Election Commission will organize a BLO (Booth Level Officer) training programme at Bharat Mandapam, New Delhi, on July 2, where around 2,500 BLOs from across the country, including approximately 200 from Rajasthan, will participate. He added that remaining BLOs in Rajasthan will be trained at the district level, covering a total of 52,500 BLOs across the state.
Shri Mahajan was addressing District Election Officers and other district-level officials via video conference on Tuesday. He emphasized that special care must be taken to ensure that voters face no inconvenience during the voting process.
He directed District Election Officers to reorganize polling booths where queues extended past 6 p.m. during the previous Assembly and Lok Sabha elections, and where voter counts exceeded 1200.
Further, he instructed that political parties be encouraged to nominate Booth Level Agents (BLAs) at polling stations and ensure their active involvement in election processes in accordance with guidelines. District officials were also told to issue identity cards to BLOs.
Shri Mahajan stressed that District Election Officers in newly created districts must act as per the guidelines of the Election Commission of India (ECI). He directed them to appoint nodal officers, set up IT-enabled cells, establish EVM warehouses and district call centers, update control tables on the ERO-Net platform, and form relevant committees, all in a time-bound manner.
He also announced the launch of ‘ECINet’, an integrated digital platform created by the ECI to make the election process more accessible, transparent, and efficient. Currently in its trial phase, this platform will unify over 40 existing mobile and web applications, offering a seamless, one-stop destination for all election-related services. This will benefit citizens, election officials, media personnel, and political parties by providing easy and fast access to electoral information.
All District Collectors and concerned officers participated in the video conference.
