Nashik : The upcoming Simhastha Kumbh Mela is scheduled to take place in Nashik district in 2026-27. To ensure the success of this grand event, all agencies should engage in systematic planning, as instructed by Divisional Commissioner Dr. Praveen Gedam to all present officials.
Dr. Gedam was speaking at the Simhastha Kumbh Mela preparatory review meeting held today in the central hall of the District Collectorate. Present at the meeting were District Collector Jalaj Sharma, Deputy Commissioner of Revenue Rani Tate, Superintendent Engineer of the Public Works Department Arundhati Sharma, Executive Engineer of the Water Resources Department Sonal Shahane, Deputy Director of Nashik MTDC Madhumati Sardesai, Additional Commissioner of Nashik Municipal Corporation Pradeep Chaudhary, Chief Officer of Trimbakeshwar Municipal Council Shreya Devchakke, Resident Deputy Collector Rajendra Wagh, and heads of all relevant departments.
Divisional Commissioner Praveen Gedam stated that each department should prioritize essential items while preparing their plans for the upcoming Simhastha Kumbh Mela in the district. Maps should be used in the plans where necessary, and the estimated budget requests should clearly and thoroughly detail the included items. Nashik’s branding should have a theme related to religious sites. Additionally, disaster management planning should be done according to the law to ensure safety and prevent any untoward incidents during the Kumbh Mela festival. To avoid duplication of work and ensure efficient use of funds, all relevant agencies should coordinate their planning. Given that devotees and citizens from across the country will visit the district during the Simhastha Kumbh Mela, proper planning should also be done to enhance and develop local tourist sites.
District Collector Jalaj Sharma mentioned that there is approximately a three-year period for planning the upcoming Simhastha Kumbh Mela, providing ample time for all agencies to plan accordingly. During the meeting, heads of various departments presented their estimated itemized plans for the Kumbh Mela.
