Mumbai : In a historic development at the Paris Air Show, Dassault Aviation has signed an agreement with Reliance Aerospace Ltd. for the manufacturing of Falcon 2000 jets in India. This marks the first time such production will take place outside France. The manufacturing will be done in Nagpur, and Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis has welcomed the agreement and expressed his happiness.
The manufacturing facility in MIHAN, Nagpur, is expected to significantly boost India’s aerospace manufacturing sector and provide strong momentum to Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s ‘Make in India’ initiative. CM Fadnavis called it a crucial step toward a self-reliant India, stating, “We have developed several facilities in Nagpur for defense production. This agreement is a milestone in that direction.”
The complete production of Falcon 2000 jets for India and the global market will now be carried out in Nagpur. With this agreement, India joins the ranks of nations like the USA, France, Canada, and Brazil in manufacturing such advanced jets. The Dassault Reliance Aerospace Limited (DRAL) facility in Nagpur will emerge as a center of excellence. Assembly of Falcon 8X and 6X models will also take place there. The first ‘Made in India’ Falcon jet is expected to be ready by 2028.
Established in 2017, the DRAL facility is now set for expansion, which will generate employment for thousands of skilled technicians and engineers in Nagpur. Dassault Aviation, a global aerospace leader, is known for manufacturing both the Rafale fighter jets used by armed forces and the Falcon series of business jets. The company has produced over 10,000 military and civil aircraft to date and supplies to nearly 90 countries.
