Take Immediate Steps to Provide Facilities for Navi Mumbai Residents – CM Devendra Fadnavis

CM reviews key demands within Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation limits at the request of Forest Minister Ganesh Naik

Mumbai : Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis conducted a detailed review of various civic and developmental issues affecting the people of Navi Mumbai. Acting upon the requests made by Forest Minister Ganesh Naik, the CM instructed officials to take immediate steps to resolve several pending matters. These include approval of the Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation’s (NMMC) development plan, regularization of homes built out of necessity, rehabilitation and permanent absorption of project-affected persons, and realignment of the Kharghar-Nerul coastal route via Sector 11 in Belapur to connect to the airport.

The review meeting, held at Varsha residence, was chaired by CM Fadnavis and attended by Forest Minister Ganesh Naik, former MPs Sanjeev Naik and Kapil Patil, along with senior government officials.

CM Fadnavis emphasized that the development plan submitted by the NMMC with general body approval should be approved at the earliest. He also advised expediting approval for the hoarding and street vendor policy, and suggested allowing local bodies to independently approve such policies in the future.

The CM further directed that just as Barvi dam project-affected families were given permanent employment, a time-bound plan should be drafted for rehabilitating Morbe dam and CIDCO project-affected persons. Other key instructions included:

  • Keeping Airoli jetty operational 24×7.
  • Providing compensation to fishermen displaced by the Sewri-Nhava Sheva project.
  • Regularizing unauthorized houses built out of necessity in gaothan (village settlement) extensions.
  • Reducing housing prices in CIDCO housing schemes.
  • Ensuring local employment opportunities at the Navi Mumbai airport.
  • Allotting land for rehabilitation to quarry and crusher license holders.

The CM also asked officials to explore the feasibility of building a double-decker road at Belapur Sector 15 along the proposed Kharghar-Nerul jetty coastal route. He assured that he would take up with the Union Railways Ministry the demand to set up a new railway station near Khairane village between Turbhe and Koparkhairane.

He also directed the Water Resources Department to submit a proposal to raise the height of the dam at Dolkhamb in Shahapur taluka.
