Announcement: COOP-A-THON Marathon in Chennai on July 6, 2025 – Celebrating International Year and Day of Cooperatives

As part of the celebrations for the International Year of Cooperatives 2025 and International Day of Cooperatives, a marathon titled “COOP-A-THON” will be held in Chennai on July 6, 2025, with the aim of promoting the spirit and values of cooperatives.

Cooperatives play a crucial role in fostering inclusive growth and uplifting marginalized communities by ensuring broad participation and empowerment. To celebrate their contributions and raise awareness, the Hon’ble Minister for Cooperation has initiated this marathon through the Department of Cooperation.

The COOP-A-THON will be flagged off at 5:30 a.m. on July 6, 2025, from Chennai Island Grounds.

The event will have two age categories:

• One for participants aged 18 to 40 years
• Another for those above 40 years

Both men and women can register and participate.

All registered runners will receive:

• Timing chip
• Certificate
• T-shirt
• Refreshments

Cash prizes will be awarded as follows:

• First Prize: ₹30,000
• Second Prize: ₹20,000
• Third Prize: ₹10,000
