Dr. Jitender Assumes Charge as New DGP of Telangana.

Hyderabad: Dr. Jitender officially assumed the role of Director General of Police (DGP) of Telangana at the DGP office in Hyderabad on Wednesday.

Appointed by the Revanth Reddy administration on the same day, Dr. Jitender’s new position marks a significant step in his career. Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy met with the newly appointed DGP at the Telangana Secretariat to extend his congratulations and support.

An IPS officer, Dr. Jitender previously served as Principal Secretary in the Ministry of Home Affairs of the state. Upon taking charge, Dr. Jitender stated, “I have taken charge. I will try to do my best. I understand the priorities of the government that we should maintain law and order and prevent crimes. Narcotics is another issue. We have already appointed a Director of Narcotics. We have an emphasis on cyber-crimes also and we have specialization for it. We have senior officers who are looking after the cyber-crimes. I will try my level best. We will ensure that Telangana remains peaceful. I also want to thank the government for considering me for this post. I will give my best.”

Highlighting the department’s focus on narcotics, he added, “The government has clearly said that narcotics is our priority, for which a Narcotics Bureau has already been appointed. Recently, the CM flagged off some vehicles and sanctioned additional manpower for it. We have good control over narcotics.”

Dr. Jitender also expressed his commitment on the social media platform X, writing, “I am honored to take charge as the Director General of Police (DGP) for Telangana. My commitment is to work diligently to ensure the peace, harmony, and safety of all citizens in our state.”
