Names of Democracy Fighters Will Be Etched Forever in History: Minister for Social Justice and Empowerment
Jaipur : Social Justice and Empowerment Minister Shri Avinash Gehlot stated that it is because of the sacrifices of democracy fighters that the Constitution and democracy in India remain alive today. He emphasized that the oppressive government of the time had to bow down to their courage and relentless struggle 50 years ago. The purpose of commemorating this day, he said, is to ensure future generations understand the immense sacrifices made to protect democracy.
Shri Gehlot was addressing the “Constitution Murder Day – 2025” program organized at the Tonk Municipal Council auditorium on Wednesday, marking the 50th anniversary of the Emergency imposed in India. On this occasion, he also honored several democracy fighters.
He remarked that whenever attempts were made to weaken India’s democracy, the people of the nation stood united to prove how deeply rooted and resilient democratic values are. During the Emergency, democracy faced severe challenges. Press freedom was abolished, and citizens’ liberties were curtailed. Yet, after 21 months of continuous resistance, democracy in India was revived. Shri Gehlot affirmed that the names of democracy fighters have been permanently inscribed in the annals of history, and it is a matter of great pride to honor them today.
He further said that under the leadership of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, the country is making significant progress. Chief Minister Shri Bhajanlal Sharma is working with the spirit of “Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas, Sabka Vishwas, Sabka Kalyan” for the welfare of all sections of society. He urged everyone to fulfill their duties with sincerity, along with exercising their rights.
