Food Minister Directs Officials to Ensure Benefits of Departmental Schemes Reach Genuine Beneficiaries — 96,369 Units Removed Under ‘Give Up’ Campaign
Jaipur : Food, Civil Supplies, and Consumer Affairs Minister Mr. Sumit Godara has instructed officials to ensure regular monitoring at all levels for the transparent and accountable implementation of departmental schemes. Chairing a review meeting on Thursday at the Kotputli–Behror Collectorate Auditorium, Mr. Godara assessed the progress of various schemes with departmental officers.
The Minister reviewed the progress of the ‘Give Up’ campaign, focusing on ineligible beneficiaries—such as income taxpayers, government employees (state and central), four-wheeler owners, and families with an annual income exceeding ₹1 lakh—voluntarily surrendering their benefits under the Food Security Scheme. He emphasized encouraging ineligible beneficiaries to opt out by August 31, after which action should be taken according to the rules. Inspectors have been assigned subdivision-wise targets to ensure the campaign’s effective implementation, and the Minister warned that negligence in this task would not be tolerated.
Mr. Godara also directed that the campaign be linked with public awareness drives, ensuring widespread promotion across every Gram Panchayat and urban area. This would encourage more ineligible beneficiaries to voluntarily opt out, enabling genuine beneficiaries to access their rightful entitlements in line with the vision of Chief Minister Bhajanlal Sharma. He further asked field officers to verify that benefits under the National Food Security Act (NFSA) are reaching the rightful recipients. All ration shops must also display information about the PM Garib Kalyan Anna Yojana.
Random Verification to Identify Ineligible Entries: Godara
The Minister reviewed the pending applications on the NFSA portal from 2022 and 2025 and instructed that reports for all pending cases be submitted within a set timeframe. He ordered district-level officers to conduct random verifications of approved applications to identify ineligible entries early.
Reviewing Aadhaar seeding and e-KYC updates for recently added beneficiaries, Mr. Godara emphasized completing this process on priority. He said digital verification is essential for transparency and targeted distribution of schemes.
The meeting also included a review of pending commissions for ration dealers and payments for transporters, subdivision-wise. He instructed that all outstanding dues be cleared promptly in accordance with regulations.
The District Supply Officer reported that under the National Food Security Scheme, 2,10,442 families and 9,11,589 beneficiaries are registered in the district. A 2% random check is currently being conducted by district-level officials in compliance with departmental directives and orders from the District Collector.
In 2022, after the activation of the food security portal, the district received 26,645 applications, out of which 12,249 families were approved and added to the scheme as of June 25.
Similarly, under the 2025 scheme, the district has received 8,219 applications, of which 3,249 have been processed and included in the scheme. The rest are under verification.
It was also noted that Aadhaar seeding has been completed for all newly added beneficiaries under the 2025 scheme. Lists of pending e-KYC beneficiaries have been provided to fair price shopkeepers with instructions to ensure 100% completion.
So far, 49,912 units have been removed under the ‘Give Up’ campaign, and 46,457 units were removed due to failure to complete e-KYC — totaling 96,369 units removed. Additionally, 78,716 new units have been added in the district since January 26, 2025.
The Minister appreciated the department’s efforts in implementing these initiatives.
Timely and Quality Redressal of Public Grievances Essential: Minister Godara
Mr. Godara emphasized that delays in payments to dealers and transporters adversely impact the public distribution system and must be avoided at all costs. He reiterated that schemes related to food security are directly linked to the general public, and any laxity in monitoring or implementation will not be tolerated. He instructed officials to ensure timely and rule-based resolution of public grievances with a focus on quality.
The meeting was attended by Kotputli MLA Mr. Hansraj Patel, Viratnagar MLA Mr. Kuldeep Dhankhar, Behror MLA Mr. Jaswant Singh, Alwar District Chief Mr. Balbir Chhillar, District Collector Ms. Priyanka Goswami, ADM Mr. Omprakash Saharan, SDM Mr. Brijesh Chaudhary, District Supply Officer Mr. Shashi Shekhar Sharma, Mahasingh, and other district and sub-divisional officials from the Food and Civil Supplies Department.
