CM Vishnu Deo Sai to Virtually Join Agri-Horti Buyer-Seller Meet from Bagia

Companies from Several States to Participate; Crop Competitions to be Held Among Mango, Pear, and Apple Growers

Raipur : Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Deo Sai will participate virtually from Bagia in the Agri-Horti Buyer-Seller Conference on June 28. This two-day event is being organized for the first time under the ‘Krishi Kranti’ (Agricultural Revolution) initiative launched by the district administration of Jashpur to promote farmers’ welfare and the development of agriculture, horticulture, and sericulture.

Companies from several Indian states are expected to take part in the event. The first day (28 June) will feature buyer-seller interactions and discussions on specialized harvesting, preservation, and processing techniques. There will also be presentations on quality control standards, regulatory frameworks, and the promotion of export opportunities for agricultural, horticultural, silk, and forest-based products. A crop exhibition will also be held.

On the second day (29 June), entrepreneurs from across India will visit farms to observe standing crops. The conference will host progressive farmers, herbal product manufacturers, state-based entrepreneurs, export specialists, and representatives from minor forest produce associations. National and state-level agriculture-based companies have been invited, and many are expected to send representatives.

Jashpur is known for its vast organic produce market, with the region’s forests rich in medicinal plants and other forest products. It is also a major hub for silk farming. The conference aims to create a platform where farmers can sell their products at better prices and gain insights into market trends, challenges, and planning for the future.

Through Farmer Producer Organizations (FPOs), the produce will be collected and sold directly to buyer companies, eliminating middlemen. Additionally, competitions will be held among mango and pear growers. As part of the Agri-Horti Buyer-Seller Conference, a contest will take place from 9 AM on 28 June at the Jashpur District Panchayat premises. Farmers producing Dasheri and Amrapali mangoes and pears will compete based on the average weight of six fruits.

The first prize for the competition is ₹5,000, second prize ₹3,000, and third prize ₹2,000.

The conference is a strong step toward empowering farmers and linking them directly to markets through knowledge-sharing and fair trade opportunities.
