Sukma District’s Innovative Initiative to Reintegrate Former Naxals into Society
30 Surrendered Naxals Receive Masonry Training for a New Start
Raipur : In a significant step towards promoting peace and rehabilitation, the district administration of Sukma, a Naxal-affected area in Chhattisgarh, has launched an innovative initiative to reintegrate former Naxals into mainstream society. Under this program, 30 surrendered Naxals have been given professional training in masonry, providing them a chance to rebuild their lives and become economically self-reliant.
The initiative aligns with the Chhattisgarh Government’s Naxal Rehabilitation Policy, which aims to create a brighter future for those who renounce violence and return to the mainstream. The training program was launched under the guidance of District Collector Devesh Kumar Dhruv and Superintendent of Police Kiran Chavan. Upon successful completion of the course, certificates were distributed by SP Kiran Chavan to all the trained individuals at the district police office.
The government is making comprehensive efforts to support surrendered Naxals by placing them in rehabilitation centres where they receive skills training and employment opportunities. This approach not only enables them to live a dignified life but also supports their families with sustainable livelihood options.
This training, conducted under the RSETI (Rural Self Employment Training Institute) program managed by Livelihood College, is seen as a crucial effort to help former insurgents become productive members of society. The district administration believes that such initiatives can also motivate other active Naxals to abandon violence and join the path of peace and progress.
After receiving their certificates, the newly trained youth expressed visible confidence and gratitude. The administration is optimistic that this step will not only secure the future of these individuals but also contribute to long-term peace and self-employment opportunities in Sukma.
This rehabilitation model stands as a testament to the power of inclusion and development in conflict-affected areas.
