Telangana Chemical Plant Explosion Kills Eight, Injures 28 in Sangareddy
Massive Reactor Blast Triggers Fire at Sigachi Chemicals; Rescue Operations Underway
Sangareddy : At least eight workers were killed and 28 others injured in a devastating explosion at a chemical factory in the Pasumyalam industrial area near Hyderabad. The blast occurred around 9 a.m. at Sigachi Chemicals, located in Sangareddy district, and was followed by a massive fire that quickly engulfed the facility.

The explosion reportedly originated from a reactor inside the factory. According to eyewitnesses, the blast was so intense that several workers were thrown into the air and landed several meters away. The structure housing the manufacturing unit collapsed under the impact, and the fire spread to adjacent buildings within the premises.
Firefighters rushed to the scene and deployed 11 fire tenders to bring the blaze under control. Rescue teams, including the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF), Hyderabad Disaster Response and Property Protection Agency (HYDRA), police, and revenue officials, launched coordinated relief efforts. Earthmovers were used to clear debris and search for trapped individuals. One worker was pulled out from the rubble and rushed to the hospital.
Five workers died on the spot, while three others succumbed to their injuries in the hospital. Two of the deceased were identified as Abhishek Kumar from Bihar and Nagarjeet Tiwari from Odisha. A total of 66 employees were reportedly on duty at the time of the accident. Among the injured, five are said to be in critical condition and have been admitted to various hospitals across the region.

The factory employed several migrant workers from Odisha, Uttar Pradesh, and other states. Panic gripped workers in the affected unit as well as nearby factories, many of whom fled the premises to safety.
Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy expressed deep grief over the incident and instructed officials to ensure swift rescue operations and provide the best medical care to the injured. According to the Chief Minister’s Office, he has called for a detailed report on the incident. Health Minister Damodar Raja Narasimha visited the accident site and emphasized the urgency of the rescue work. Fire Services Director General B.V. Narayanan, Sangareddy Collector P. Praveenya, and Superintendent of Police Paritosh Pankaj are personally overseeing the situation.
An investigation is expected to be launched into the cause of the explosion.
