Environment Minister Pankaja Munde Travels to Vidhan Bhavan in EV, Sends Symbolic Message for Pollution-Free Maharashtra
Mumbai : On the very first day of the state legislature session, Maharashtra’s Environment and Animal Husbandry Minister, Pankaja Munde, arrived at the Vidhan Bhavan premises in an electric vehicle (EV), sending a symbolic message in support of a pollution-free Maharashtra. She also appealed to citizens to adopt electric vehicles to help reduce environmental pollution.

As the Environment Minister, Munde had recently instructed her department to make arrangements for an electric vehicle for her daily commute. Acting on her directive, the department provided her with an EV. With the commencement of the legislative session, she chose to travel from her official residence at Ramtek to the Vidhan Bhavan in this electric car. Minister of State for Urban Development, Madhuri Misal, accompanied her during the journey.
A Symbolic Call for Pollution Reduction
Speaking to the media after arriving at Vidhan Bhavan, Minister Munde said, “As the Environment Minister, I am using an electric vehicle to symbolically highlight the importance of reducing pollution. While long-distance travel in such a vehicle may be challenging, it is certainly feasible within Mumbai. That’s why I’ve decided to use an EV.”
She further added, “I appeal to people to adopt such vehicles, as this small step can make a significant contribution toward reducing environmental pollution.”
