Mahatari Vandan Yojana Transforms Lives of Millions of Women
Raipur : The Mahatari Vandan Yojana has ushered in a transformative era for women across Chhattisgarh, marking a golden chapter in the state’s journey of women empowerment. Under the leadership of Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Deo Sai and the guidance of Women and Child Development Minister Smt. Laxmi Rajwade, this scheme has not only provided financial support but also paved the way for self-reliant and dignified lives for countless women.
From March 2024 to June 2025, more than 2 lakh women in Jashpur district alone have received a total of ₹342.39 crore (₹342,39,31,950) under the scheme. This significant figure is a testament to the tangible impact the scheme is making at the grassroots level.
Fostering Confidence and Self-Reliance
Under the Mahatari Vandan Yojana, every eligible woman receives ₹1,000 per month. This initiative has empowered women to make independent decisions, no matter how small.
Beneficiary Mamta Yadav from Jashpur, who works as a tailor, shared that the scheme’s monthly assistance combined with her income has enabled her to support her family better and even save for her children’s future. Similarly, women like Sarita Yadav, Anita Sonkar, Birsamuni Singh, Laxmi Bai, and Anisha Bai have all become self-reliant with the help of the scheme.
Investment of Funds: Laying the Foundation for a Better Future
Women are not restricting the financial assistance to household expenses alone. Instead, many are investing in schemes like Sukanya Samriddhi Yojana, small businesses, and self-employment ventures.
Under the Mahatari Shakti Loan Scheme, 875 women in Jashpur have received loans up to ₹25,000, repayable in 48 easy installments at minimal interest. These funds are enabling them to participate in entrepreneurial and income-generating activities.
Over ₹11,081 Crore Distributed Across the State
Since its launch in March 2024, the Mahatari Vandan Yojana has disbursed ₹11,081.68 crore in the past 17 months to married, widowed, divorced, and abandoned women aged between 21 and 60. The scheme is rewriting the narrative of women’s empowerment across every corner of Chhattisgarh, strengthening their role in the social fabric.
Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Deo Sai envisioned this scheme as a tribute to motherhood and a pledge to secure the self-reliant future of women. Women and Child Development Minister Smt. Laxmi Rajwade has personally monitored its implementation at the grassroots to ensure every eligible woman benefits from it.
Smt. Rajwade remarked that the government’s objective is not limited to providing financial aid, but to ensure that women are given the rightful place they deserve in society. The Mahatari Vandan Yojana is a powerful step in that direction.
