Howrah Division introduces innovative Wheelchair with Foldable Ramp to enhance accessibility for Divyangjan Passengers.

In a remarkable stride towards inclusive passenger amenities, Howrah Division of Eastern Railway has introduced a specially designed wheelchair integrated with a lightweight foldable ramp to ease boarding for disabled and differently-abled passengers. This thoughtful innovation aims to provide seamless and dignified mobility support, enabling users to board coaches—whether ICF or LHB—directly in their wheelchairs without needing to leave it.

The foldable ramp, weighing just 7 kg, is attachable & detachable with portable, offering the ease of handling by the users, along with added comfort to the passenger. Designed with robust engineering, the ramp can safely support up to 300 kgs of weight, ensuring complete stability during usage. This initiative is a part of Howrah Division’s continuous efforts to enhance accessibility and provide equal travel opportunities for all passengers.

Eastern Railway remains committed in improving station and train infrastructure for Divyangjan, has created a barrier-free and inclusive travel environment.
