Lakhpati Didi Honoured for Inspiring Journey
Rural Livelihood Mission (Bihan) – Ramotin Becomes Self-Reliant Farmer After Learning to Drive a Tractor
Raipur : Chief Executive Officer of the District Panchayat, Ms. Suruchi Singh, today felicitated Mrs. Ramotin Thakur of village Sagar (Chhuriya Development Block) under the Chhattisgarh State Rural Livelihood Mission (Bihan) by presenting her with a certificate of appreciation at the District Panchayat office.
Mrs. Ramotin Thakur, fondly known as “Lakhpati Didi,” will be presenting her success story under the segment Meri Kahani Meri Zubani during the “Lakhpati Didi Samvad” programme scheduled to be held in Raipur on July 11, 2025.
It is noteworthy that Mrs. Thakur is a member of the Veena Self-Help Group under the Bihan scheme. She is a living example that women can also excel in agriculture. Her transformation from a homemaker to a self-reliant farmer is truly inspiring. Faced with the high monthly salary of hiring a tractor driver, she took the bold decision to buy a tractor with the help of a bank loan — and then learned to drive it herself.
She turned her 3 acres of barren land into fertile farmland, which led to a significant increase in her income. Today, her annual income exceeds ₹1 lakh. She is actively involved in various initiatives under the National Rural Livelihoods Mission (NRLM) and continues to inspire others with her determination and self-reliance.
