Towards Prosperity Through Innovation: Farmer Santosh Sahu Inspires Change in Navagarh Agriculture

Raipur : Farmers in Chhattisgarh are steadily adopting innovative technologies to transform agriculture into a profitable venture. One such progressive farmer is Mr. Santosh Sahu, a resident of Murta village in Navagarh block, who has become an inspiration for others in his region. By integrating modern techniques into traditional farming, Mr. Sahu has not only enhanced his own agricultural output but is also motivating fellow farmers to follow suit.

Embracing Paddy Transplanter Technology

Over the past two years, Mr. Sahu has been successfully using paddy transplanter machines for sowing rice. Compared to conventional methods, this technology has proven to be more cost-effective, time-saving, and yield-enhancing. He explains that earlier, traditional paddy transplantation cost ₹7,000 to ₹8,000 per acre in labor charges. Now, using mechanized transplantation, the cost has come down drastically to just ₹400–₹500 per acre.

Higher Returns at Lower Costs

This reduction in labor expenses has significantly cut down his production costs. Moreover, the speed and quality of work have improved, making farming more efficient.

Better Crop Health and Increased Yield

Paddy transplanter machines ensure uniform plant spacing and healthier transplantation. As a result, rice plants grow stronger, suffer fewer pest and disease attacks, and yield better harvests. Mr. Sahu confirms that this method has led to improved crop output on his farm.

Extending Support to Fellow Farmers

Not content with personal gains, Mr. Sahu also offers his paddy transplanter services to other farmers in nearby areas, helping them benefit from this modern approach. His efforts are contributing to the broader goal of agricultural mechanization in rural Chhattisgarh.

Benefiting from Government Schemes

Mr. Sahu is also availing benefits under the Crop Demonstration Scheme run by the Government of Chhattisgarh. This program promotes the use of advanced seeds and scientific farming techniques to enhance productivity. His success underlines the effectiveness of such schemes in encouraging agricultural innovation.

By embracing change and technology, Santosh Sahu of Murta village is proving that agriculture can indeed evolve into a modern, profitable profession. Farmers like him are laying the foundation for a bright future for agriculture in Chhattisgarh, serving as role models for others in the farming community.
