Odisha CM Mohan Majhi Meets PM Modi to Accelerate State’s Development Goals
Focus on “Double-Engine Growth” and Vikas Odisha 2036–2047 Vision Document
New Delhi : Odisha Chief Minister Shri Mohan Charan Majhi met with Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi in New Delhi today, marking a key moment in the BJP-led state’s drive toward accelerated and coordinated development. The meeting underlined the commitment of the Odisha government to align its progress with the national vision under the Prime Minister’s leadership.
The Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) confirmed the meeting via a post on social media platform X, stating: “CM of Odisha, Shri @MohanMOdisha, met Prime Minister @narendramodi. @CMO_Odisha.”
As Odisha now functions under a BJP-led government, discussions between the Chief Minister and the Prime Minister are believed to have focused on “double-engine” growth—a collaborative approach where both central and state governments work in tandem to fast-track development. Key topics likely included central assistance for state projects, effective implementation of national schemes in Odisha, and strategies for boosting economic growth across sectors.
At the heart of Odisha’s roadmap is the “Vikas Odisha 2036 and 2047” vision document, launched by Prime Minister Modi in Bhubaneswar on June 20, 2025, during the first anniversary of the BJP government in the state. This ambitious blueprint sets targets pegged to two milestones: 100 years of Odisha’s formation in 2036, and India’s centenary of independence in 2047.
The document envisions Odisha’s transformation into a $500 billion economy by 2036 and $1.5 trillion by 2047, built on six core pillars:
- People First
- Rural Empowerment
- People-Centric Governance
- Prosperity for All
- Our Legacy, Our Pride
- Technology Leading the Way
Key highlights of the plan include a “Manufacturing Mission” aimed at positioning Odisha among India’s top five manufacturing states, and elevating the state as Asia’s premier hub for mining and metals. The document also lays strong emphasis on social inclusion—with goals such as universal access to pucca housing, piped water, electricity, and sanitation by 2036, along with a strong push for women-led development.
Today’s meeting reinforces Odisha’s commitment to these long-term goals and ensures strong backing from the Union Government as the state advances on its ambitious path of development under the “Vikas Odisha 2036 and 2047” vision.
