From Traditional to Modern Farming: Sadhu Ram of Lalsuhanar Becomes a Role Model for Hundreds of Farmers
Raipur : The National Agricultural Development Scheme and Horticulture Department initiatives have sparked new hope in the life of Sadhu Ram Karanga, a farmer from Lalsuhanar village in Narayanpur district. Once struggling to make ends meet through traditional farming methods, Sadhu Ram has now significantly increased his income by adopting modern agricultural techniques, becoming financially empowered.
Under the guidance of the Horticulture Department, Sadhu Ram implemented advanced methods such as drip irrigation and mulching. He began cultivating vegetables like tomatoes, brinjals (eggplants), and bottle gourds using the mulching technique. This innovation not only helped conserve water but also enhanced the quality and yield of the crops.
By selling his produce in local markets of Orchha, Chhotedongar, and Narayanpur, Sadhu Ram has earned approximately ₹1.5 lakh annually, which is significantly higher than his previous income. This financial boost has brought a major transformation to his family’s economic condition.
His success story has become a source of inspiration for other farmers in the village. Encouraged by Sadhu Ram’s achievements, farmers from Lalsuhanar and surrounding areas are now showing keen interest in adopting modern horticultural practices. With continuous guidance and support from the Horticulture Department, the income of farmers in the region is steadily rising, paving the way for a new chapter of prosperity in the villages.
