Meeting Held with Ajmer and Bikaner Divisions to Prepare for Special Intensive Revision (SIR) Program

“No eligible voter should be left out, and no ineligible person should be included” — Chief Electoral Officer Naveen Mahajan

Jaipur : A meeting was convened on Tuesday at the Secretariat under the chairmanship of Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) Shri Naveen Mahajan to review preparations for the upcoming Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of photo electoral rolls and other election-related tasks proposed by the Election Commission of India. Divisional Commissioners, District Election Officers, and subordinate Electoral Registration Officers from Ajmer and Bikaner divisions participated via video conferencing.

CEO Shri Mahajan stated that the objective of the SIR program is to purify the electoral rolls and ensure transparency so that every eligible citizen can exercise their voting rights correctly. He directed that help desks be established from the Gram Panchayat to the district level, and that staff deployed at these desks must be thoroughly familiar with the SIR program and its guidelines.

To ensure effective implementation, Mahajan emphasized the timely appointment and training of required personnel, including Booth Level Officers (BLOs), Information Assistants, and Supervisors. He also instructed that volunteers be selected and trained promptly. Special inspection teams should be constituted for random checks to ensure no eligible voter is excluded from the electoral rolls.

The Chief Electoral Officer further directed that coordination with all political parties be ensured, and Booth Level Agents (BLAs) be appointed at the earliest. He emphasized that the rationalization of polling stations should be carried out considering factors such as the number of voters, distance, accessibility, convenience, and availability of basic facilities. He also instructed that extensive Information, Education, and Communication (IEC) activities be undertaken to effectively communicate the objectives and procedures of the SIR program to the general public.
