Insulting Sanatan Faith is SP’s Identity: Swatantra Dev Singh

Calling Kanwar Yatra “Superstition” Reflects SP’s Distorted Mindset: UP Cabinet Minister Swatantra Dev Singh

Lucknow : Strongly opposing a recent statement by senior Samajwadi Party (SP) leader Lalji Verma who labeled the Kanwar Yatra as “superstition,” Uttar Pradesh Cabinet Minister Swatantra Dev Singh has accused the SP of consistently insulting the Sanatan tradition and India’s spiritual heritage.

Singh declared, “Calling the Kanwar Yatra superstition and opposing the ritual of showering flowers on Kanwariyas reflects SP’s deeply flawed thinking. This is the same mindset that calls Lord Ram imaginary, protects those who burn the Ramcharitmanas, and repeatedly insults Hindu faith.”

He emphasized, “Kanwar Yatra is not superstition but a living tradition of Sanatan Dharma. It is a celebration of devotion, service, discipline, and resolve. Lakhs of devotees fetch Gangajal with reverence to perform Shiva Abhishek. It unites villages and cities with a message of social harmony and faith.”

Highlighting the commitment of national leaders, Singh said, “Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath have become global torchbearers of Sanatan traditions. From the grandeur of Kashi Vishwanath to the Ram Mandir, their efforts symbolize pride and respect for our spiritual roots.”

“Showering flowers on Kanwariyas is an act of reverence, not for terrorists. It’s unfortunate that SP leaders cannot differentiate. Their politics revolves around appeasement and vote banks, making their aversion to Sanatan traditions unsurprising,” he added.

“The SP should be ashamed for mocking the faith of Kanwariyas. This is not just a statement but an attack on India’s spiritual soul. If the SP leadership doesn’t issue a public apology, the people will respond from the streets to Parliament,” Singh warned.
