Prepare a New Proposal for Ring Road in Vasai-Virar Municipal Area – Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis

Key Directives:

  • Transfer primary schools and health centers to the municipality at the earliest
  • Take immediate action against unauthorized constructions

Mumbai, July 16 – With the rapid development of the Vasai-Virar region, a fresh proposal for a Ring Road must be prepared for the area, directed Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis. He also instructed that primary schools and primary health centers under the Zilla Parishad (District Council) should be transferred to the Municipal Corporation without delay. Ongoing civic works should be completed within the stipulated timeline, and unauthorized constructions in the municipal area must be acted upon jointly by the municipal body and the Home Department within the next month.

CM Fadnavis made these remarks during a meeting regarding issues in the Vasai Assembly Constituency. Present at the meeting were Minister of State for Urban Development Madhuri Misal, MP Dr. Hemant Sawra, MLA Rajan Naik, and MLA Sneha Dubey.

The Chief Minister emphasized that the Vasai-Virar Municipal Corporation must plan all infrastructure projects with a clear and time-bound roadmap. Pending works related to health, roads, bridges, transport, and housing projects should be prioritized and completed within the defined timeframes.

He also instructed the Urban Development Department to allocate funds for roads where land is already available and asked the Municipal Corporation to expedite work on those roads. Additionally, he directed that all roads in the municipal area should be converted to concrete roads.

Parking & Urban Planning:
CM Fadnavis pointed out the serious parking issues in the region. He urged the Transport Department to quickly implement Public-Private Partnership (PPP) models for developing parking zones, calling them essential to reduce traffic congestion.

While granting construction permits and approvals for new buildings, legal checks must be strictly followed, he said. Strict implementation of building and zoning regulations in the municipal region is necessary.

Healthcare & Governance:

  • Work on the proposed multi-specialty hospital in Achole should be fast-tracked.
  • A Property Tax Amnesty Scheme should be launched, incorporating all municipal-related aspects.
  • Administrative positions should be assigned only to currently serving officers on regular posts within the municipal system.
