He said that during Operation Sindoor also, BSF jawans maintained the morale of citizens in border districts and played an important role in giving a befitting reply to Pakistan. He assured that the Central government will provide the BSF deployed on Indian borders with the latest technology and best facilities.
The Union Home Minister was addressing the Prahari Conference at the BSF’s Sanchu Post on the international border in Bikaner on Tuesday. The Central government will provide all facilities for these daughters by the year 2030. He said that currently, 79 barracks costing Rs 40 crore have been approved for daughters at BSF border posts in Rajasthan, out of which work on 67, including the 14 barracks inaugurated today, has been completed. The remaining 12 barracks will also be completed soon. Across the country, 360 barracks are being built at border posts at a cost of Rs 200 crore.
Sanchu post recorded in golden letters in India’s history
He said that Sanchu is a historic post and visiting here is a matter of great joy for him. During the 1965 India-Pakistan war, Pakistan attempted to capture Sanchu. At that time, there was a 3 RAC post at Ranjitpura, 25 kilometres away from here. When the soldiers of 13 Grenadiers received information about this, Indian jawans launched a fierce attack on Pakistan and kept Sanchu secure, forcing Pakistan to flee from here. He said that the 3 RAC has now become the 12th Battalion of the BSF and every year Sanchu Victory Day is celebrated here. This post is recorded in golden letters in India’s history.
Keep a sharp watch on cross-border encroachment, smuggling and infiltration
The Union Home Minister said that Sanchu Post is an important Border Out Post of the 179th Battalion. The Central government is constructing a 1096-km-long literal road and a 520-km-long XCL road along the international border. This will address concerns related to movement and connectivity for jawans. He said that fencing of a new design is being carried out on the borders. Work to provide drinking water through pipelines to 180 border posts has been completed. He said that along with traditional duties, BSF will also have to think in new directions. A sharp watch must be maintained on encroachment, smuggling and infiltration from across the border.
Chief Minister planted saplings
Earlier, on Tuesday, the Chief Minister planted saplings at the Swami Keshwanand Rajasthan Agricultural University campus in Bikaner and appealed to the general public to plant more and more trees for environmental protection.
The Union Home Minister said that the Prime Minister has launched the Vibrant Village Programme for the development of border villages and installation of anti-drone systems will begin in the next six months. He said that the BSF will also have to be concerned about regional security along with the states. If there is artificial demographic change, the BSF should alert the state government. At the same time, civil authorities and police should also keep a sharp watch on those using drones.
BSF should interact with children, adolescents and youth in schools
He said that BSF jawans should contribute to ensuring that the benefits of Central and state government schemes reach the last person. They should maintain regular interaction with school students. For impenetrable border security, the BSF, Army, aware citizens and administration should together create a strong four-dimensional security grid. He said that the BSF should keep an eye on threats coming from across the border. Strict legal action should also be taken against people inside the border who are used for such activities so that no one dares to indulge in such acts in future.
On this occasion, Union Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Law and Justice Arjun Ram Meghwal, Union Home Secretary Govind Mohan, Intelligence Bureau Director Tapan Kumar, Secretary Border Management Dr Rajendra Kumar, BSF Director General Praveen Kumar, public representatives, officials and a large number of Indian Army personnel were present.
