Chief Minister’s Relief Fund Cell — A Lifeline for the Needy in Maharashtra

Gadchiroli – The Chief Minister’s Relief Fund (CMRF) is one of Maharashtra Government’s key social welfare initiatives, aimed at extending timely financial aid to economically weaker sections, critically ill patients, and disaster-affected individuals. This scheme is not just limited to financial assistance—it stands as a testament to the government’s social responsibility and compassionate governance.

In Gadchiroli district, the CMRF Cell was inaugurated on Republic Day, January 26, 2025, enabling direct district-level assistance to those in need.

The fund provides immediate relief to victims of natural disasters such as floods, droughts, and fires. It also supports patients requiring expensive treatments like heart, kidney, liver, and lung transplants, cancer care, accident-related surgeries, neonatal illnesses, brain disorders, and dialysis. A recent example is the financial aid of ₹1 lakh granted on June 3, 2025, to Mr. Avinash Dubey from Kurkheda for heart treatment.

Beyond individual assistance, the fund also supports social, educational, and healthcare institutions. Grants are given for building educational and medical facilities and organizing social and cultural programs. Aid is also extended to families of victims and the injured in communal riots, terror attacks, or accidents.

The Cell effectively implements major health schemes such as:

  • Ayushman Bharat PMJAY
  • Mahatma Jyotirao Phule Jan Arogya Yojana (MSPJY)
  • Rashtriya Bal Swasthya Karyakram (RBSK)
  • Police Family Health Scheme (MPKAY)
  • State Labour Insurance Scheme (ESIC)
  • Charitable Hospital Scheme

Applicants seeking financial aid under the CMRF must submit certain mandatory documents, including:

  • A prescribed application form
  • Geo-tagged photo (if patient is admitted)
  • Estimated medical expense (certified by District Surgeon if private hospital)
  • Income certificate (less than ₹1.6 lakh) for the current financial year
  • Aadhaar and ration cards of the patient (and mother, if minor)
  • Diagnosis and treatment documents
  • FIR (in case of accident)
  • ZCC approval for organ transplant cases

Applications can be submitted digitally in a paperless and transparent process. Citizens need not travel to the Mantralaya; they can apply with help from their District Collector’s office. Officials assist applicants at every step—from filling forms to hospital verification and public awareness.
