Best Wishes to Divya Deshmukh for the Women’s Chess World Cup Final
Mumbai : Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis has extended his best wishes to Divya Deshmukh, who has stormed into the final of the Women’s Chess World Cup with a stellar win in the semifinals.
Nagpur’s Divya Deshmukh has become the first Indian woman to reach the final of the prestigious tournament. She achieved this milestone by defeating former world champion Tan Zhongyi of China, a highly ranked player. With this victory, Divya has also qualified for the Women’s Candidates Tournament, marking a historic double achievement, for which CM Fadnavis has also lauded her.
In his message, CM Fadnavis said:
“Divya Deshmukh has made not only Maharashtra but the entire nation proud. She is India’s new beacon of hope in the world of chess. I salute her determination and intelligence. My heartfelt best wishes for the World Cup final. Divya’s success is an inspiration to every young man and woman in the country.”
Notably, Divya had won the Women’s World Cup in the junior category last year, and by maintaining her winning streak, she has now made a powerful mark at the senior level as well.
