Commissioner of Agriculture and Horticulture Inspects Advanced Farming by Progressive Farmers, Applauds Innovations
Jaipur : To promote advanced agricultural techniques, encourage innovation, and directly observe the inspiring initiatives of progressive farmers, Commissioner of Agriculture and Horticulture, Ms. Chinmayi Gopal, conducted a two-day visit to Chittorgarh. During the visit, she inspected the Custard Apple Centre of Excellence and the farmlands of progressive farmers, reviewing modern cultivation methods, crop diversification, and agri-based enterprises. She praised the farmers for their innovative approaches.
Visit to Custard Apple Centre of Excellence
At the Centre, Ms. Gopal examined the custard apple orchard, shade-net houses, insect-net houses, primary nursery, and the custard apple processing lab. She was particularly impressed with the processed agricultural products and directed that custard apple growers be trained in value-added processing to increase profitability.
Inspection at Sujakheda: Polyhouse, Vermicompost Unit, Farm Pond, and Napier Grass
Ms. Gopal visited the farm of progressive farmer Mr. Gopal Lal Jat in Sujakheda. She inspected the cucumber crop grown in net houses, a vermicompost unit, a plastic-lined farm pond, mulching in vegetable cultivation, and a plot of super Napier grass.
Commending Mr. Jat’s diversified farming model, she held detailed discussions with him about each innovation. She instructed officials to disseminate such successful practices widely so that other farmers can also adopt new techniques, become prosperous, and self-reliant.
Visit to Chikarada: Rose Cultivation and Gulkand Processing Unit
In Chikarada village, Ms. Gopal visited the Gulkand processing unit run by progressive farmer Mr. Rameshwar Lal Khandelwal. He purchases roses from local farmers and processes them into gulkand, rose water, and rose syrup. The Commissioner praised Mr. Khandelwal’s initiative and encouraged him to develop and market his own brand. She remarked that such farmers are excellent examples of profitable and modern farming, capable of inspiring many others.
Also present was Mr. Mohan Lal Khatik, a beekeeper from Bhadesar, who showcased his honey products.
Directions to Officials: Organize Farm Visits for Knowledge Sharing
Ms. Gopal instructed departmental officers to organize tours of these progressive farms for other farmers. She emphasized the importance of spreading awareness about model farming techniques, crop diversification, organic farming, and smart resource utilization.
She affirmed the state government’s commitment to economically empowering farmers and transforming agriculture into an innovation-driven industry, noting that progressive farmers have a vital role to play in this transformation.
