Metaguda Village in Konta Moves Towards a New Dawn

Transformation of a Maoist-Affected Region through the “Niyad Nella Naar” Scheme

A New Hope for Development as Electricity Reaches Metaguda Camp

Raipur : Where once complete darkness fell with sunset, a remote Maoist-affected region in Bastar has now seen the first spark of light. On 27 July 2025, when the first electric bulb lit up in Metaguda village, under Konta block in Sukma district, it was more than a technological achievement — it marked the beginning of a long-awaited hope for people who had been left behind in the development journey for decades.

Camp Becomes Gateway to Development

Under the Chhattisgarh government’s “Niyad Nella Naar” initiative, a security camp was set up in Metaguda on 29 December 2024. This camp not only ensured security but also bridged the gap between the government and the local population. Thanks to this very camp, basic amenities like education, healthcare, roads, water, communication — and now electricity — have started reaching Metaguda and nearby villages.

Not Just Electricity, But Trust Has Arrived

The arrival of electricity has created a festive atmosphere among locals. Where once oil lamps were the only source of light, electric bulbs now shine. Children’s eyes gleam with dreams of learning, and a sense of peace is visible on the elderly’s faces.

A Challenging Task in a Sensitive Region, Achieved Through Cooperation

This success was made possible through the combined efforts of the district administration, police, and CRPF’s 131st battalion. Key figures who led and coordinated the initiative include IG Bastar Range Mr. Sundarraj P., DIG Dantewada Mr. Kamlochan Kashyap, DIG (Adm.) CRPF Mr. Anand Singh Rajpurohit, Collector Mr. Devesh Kumar Dhruv, SP Mr. Kiran Chavan, CRPF Commandant Mr. Deepak Kumar Sahu, and Second-in-Command Officer Mr. Mouli Mohan Kumar.

With Light Comes Opportunity

Electricity will not only brighten homes but also enhance opportunities — from children’s education, irrigation, mobile charging, access to television and radio, to other communication and entertainment resources. Most importantly, it reinforces the feeling that the government stands with the people and that their future is bright.

A Beginning of Light, A First Step in a Long Development Journey

Bringing electricity to Metaguda isn’t just development in one village — it symbolizes a vision committed to delivering government services to the remotest corners of Bastar. This successful implementation of the Niyad Nella Naar scheme will serve as inspiration for other distant and highly sensitive regions in the future.
