State Election Commissioner Reviews Preparations for Municipal Elections

Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar : State Election Commissioner Dinesh Waghmare today reviewed the preparations for the upcoming local self-government elections.

At the Divisional Commissioner’s office, a review meeting was held with the commissioners of all five municipal corporations in the division regarding facilities, polling stations, control units, ballot units, and the arrangements at government, semi-government, and private locations.

The meeting was attended by Divisional Commissioner Jitendra Papalkar, Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar Municipal Corporation Commissioner G. Srikant, Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar District Collector Dilip Swami, Jalna District Collector Dr. Shrikrishna Panchal, Jalna Municipal Corporation Commissioner Santosh Khandekar, Nanded Municipal Corporation Commissioner Dr. Maheshkumar Doifode, Nanded District Collector Rahul Kardile, Parbhani District Collector Raghunath Gavande, Parbhani Municipal Corporation Commissioner Mahesh Jadhav, Latur District Collector Varsha Thakur-Ghuge, and Latur Municipal Corporation Commissioner Mansi Meena.

As per the State Election Commission’s order dated June 26, 2025, the municipal commissioners provided information on the facilities and arrangements being made for the elections.

Election Commissioner Waghmare emphasized that preparing accurate voter lists is the most crucial task in these elections. He instructed officials to ensure that voters are registered in the correct wards so that they can vote in their designated areas. He further said that sufficient Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs) would be made available to the municipal corporations and directed that storage facilities be arranged, keeping used and unused EVMs separately.

He also informed that the Commission’s website and mobile app have been updated, and both the election officials and the general public can use these platforms.

Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar Municipal Commissioner G. Srikant briefed the meeting about the CCTV surveillance arrangements.

Election officials and other related authorities were present during the meeting.
